University of Saint Mary
The University of Saint Mary, founded by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, originated as a boarding school for young women starting in 1859, then a women's junior college in 1923, and into what it is today--a fully accredited co-ed university with four locations, offering 26 undergraduate degrees, six graduate degrees and three on-line programs. Visitors are welcome to visit the De Paul Library's Special Collections: The Sacred Scripture Collection, the Abraham Lincoln Collection and the Heritage Collection of English and American Literature. The university's park-like grounds include a wildlife preserve. To schedule a free tour of the Special Collections, call the De Paul Library, (913) 758-6306 or visit www.stmary.edu.
