JET Express Grows, Volunteers needed!

Beginning January 20, JET Express, the volunteer driver program, will expand its hours: Sunday – Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Reservations will only be taken during JFS business hours, Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. -4 p.m. and Fridays, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.; reservations must be made five days in advance. To participate as a rider, please contact Dawn Herbet, director of older adult initiatives, at (913) 327-8239.

With the increase in hours, additional volunteer drivers are needed to transport riders. Volunteer drivers must complete a training session. Volunteer drivers must:

• be at least 21 years of age;
• hold a valid driver’s license, have current auto insurance coverage;
• have the ability to use their own vehicle.
  

Volunteer drivers will be reimbursed at $0.33 a mile, however, reimbursement can be donated back to help underwrite the JET Express program. To volunteer, please contact Adrienne Kizer, director of volunteers and special projects, (913) 327-8257 or email her at akizer@jfskc.org
